Every wonder what it's like to care for chickens for an entire day? We have documented a full day of backyard chicken care in our mobile coop from morning until birdie bedtime.
Watch us as we let the chickens out in the morning, clean their mobile coop, give them chicken treats, play with them, and tuck them in at night. Our chickens are not short on personalty and love to "ham it up" for the camera!
How long does it take to care for chickens each day?
1) Letting them out in the morning - less than 5 minutes
2) Cleaning out the coop - less than 10 minutes
3) Giving treats - less than 5 minutes
4) Putting chickens to bed - less than 5 minutes
5) Loving on chickens - up to you!

And what is that spray for .?. what does it do ?.. So.. this is a chicken tractor yes ?? and if so , will that spot be where you will have your garden?? I noticed a chain link fence , is that your property line?? do you have a rough plan on paper of where you would like everything in the future to be situated ? It looks to me like your daughters really likes chickens, do you think she might like rabbits too, I mean there about the same size , and dad could make the hutches .. She might even like growing meal worms.. You front garden there looks like a great place to grow edible flowers or vegies..I'm sorry I just like asking questions....

Why do you use an electrified fence to keep your chickens in?

+bigchunk1 It's not so much to keep the chickens in as it is to keep predators away from them. Works great.

let me just add , another couple of angle pipes for the feeders and a flip down lid on a bungy means you wont have to go into the run as often, also pipes with spring chicken nipples will help with the water, last but not least a pulley on the door connected to the outside means you can open and close it without going inside to......

Oh I love going in and interacting with the birds. I don't want to automate it too much (at least at this point). I still have to go in to clean the coop anyway. Chores really only take about 10-15 min anyway. We are going to build a bucket with chicken nipples and see how that works. Thanks for the tips!

Beautiful video. It's amazing to watch them all go in like clockwork as soon as the sun sets. Used to think chickens were pretty dumb until I started raising them. Much more intelligent than first surmised. Thanks for sharing.

might consider sand for the substrate in the coop :)

+Courtney Frock We did consider it but its too heavy for a mobile coop. The pine shavings are light and work really well. Thanks for the suggestion!

Your chickens are more out going than mine. Mine do run run to me when I walk out the door, thinking they may get a treat. I need to get them some mill worms, they seam to like them. Great video.

Chicks are like puppy's and kittens, very cute and needy.
As chicks get older they slowly turn into velociraptors so don't turn you back on them ;-)....But seriously, we thought Buffs were a 'nice' breed... but the ISA Browns are amazingly docile and they will follow you around so closely, they will literally get under foot. They are great layers, an egg a day (currently adding two hours of p.m. light in the coop), but only medium size brown eggs.

We are actually considering soldier flies. We get them anyway in our composter sometimes. It is definitely a great idea no matter what the worm/larvae!
